MAKAA Madrid
A Trendy Dinner Above Madrid’s Sun-Drenched Rooftops
Imagine a Madrid sky tinged with orange and pink, a gentle breeze and 360° views over the city’s rooftops. Welcome to MAKAA, the rooftop restaurant at the Thompson Madrid hotel, where gastronomy meets the magic of an unforgettable sunset.
An Atmosphere That Makes You Want to Stay
Located on the tenth floor of the Thompson hotel, MAKAA offers a space that is both chic and relaxed, combining designer furniture, bohemian touches and soft lighting to create an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. In the evening, DJ sets and lounge music enhance the experience, making it the perfect spot for drinks with friends or a romantic dinner.
The real highlight? The terrace, with its deep sofas and tables ideally positioned to enjoy the view. Whether you are in the mood for cocktails and tapas or a romantic dinner, this is the perfect place to relax.
A Menu Focused on Sharing and Quality
MAKAA serves reinvented Mediterranean cuisine with a bold twist and strong Spanish and Japanese influences. The menu is designed for sharing, although you are, of course, free to order whatever you fancy.
The RAW Bar: Freshness and Creativity
Inspired by sushi bars and cevicherías, this counter serves light dishes packed with flavour:
- Sun-dried tomato tartare: an original and generous plant-based alternative, although slightly salty—best shared for a more balanced experience.
- Bluefin tuna nigiri with crispy rice: an absolute must-try! The crispiness of the rice and the melt-in-the-mouth tuna, enhanced by perfectly balanced condiments, make this an irresistible starter.
- Ceviches and tartares: perfect for an aperitif or a light meal.
Meat and Fish: A Fine Selection of Quality Ingredients
MAKAA focuses on high-quality ingredients, with particular attention paid to its meat selection:
- Landes chicken: a reinvented classic served with seasonal vegetables and creamy mashed potatoes. Simple, satisfying and comforting.
- Joselito Iberian presa: for meat lovers, this exceptional cut—from free-range, acorn-fed pigs—is a true gastronomic experience. Tender, juicy and intensely flavourful, it is a dish that needs nothing else.
And to Finish? Cocktails or Desserts?
We did not have room for dessert that evening, but the cocktail menu is an invitation to extend the night. It features balanced and refreshing signature creations, such as the “MAKAA Spritz”—made with gin, elderflower liqueur and Prosecco—or the “Thompson Old Fashioned”, a Madrid-inspired take on the classic.
If you prefer dessert, the menu offers indulgent options such as a chocolate fondant or a seasonal fruit tart.
My Tips for the Best Experience
